Simple Arrangements Without a Formal Service
This service is designed for families who do not require mourners to attend the crematorium. It keeps the arrangements straightforward while ensuring your loved one is treated with the same dignity, professionalism and care as every person entrusted to us.
There is no separate crematorium fee to add to the £1,395 package price when the cremation takes place at Hammerwich Crematorium. If you would prefer a different crematorium, we can arrange this and will confirm the difference in the crematorium fee before you proceed. Any separate memorial, burial of ashes, floral tribute or other service requested later would be discussed and quoted independently.
A direct cremation is an unattended cremation. It does not include a funeral ceremony or gathering at the crematorium.

Choosing a direct cremation does not mean your loved one has to be sent away to a distant national facility. With Jennifer Ashe & Son, your loved one remains in the care of your local funeral director, close to home and cared for by the same local team you can speak to face to face.

The lower price is possible because the cremation is arranged without a formal service or attendance at the crematorium. Hammerwich Crematorium is included as standard, although another crematorium can be requested and we will confirm the fee difference.

The additional charge is £175. The direct cremation itself remains unattended, with no mourners present at the crematorium. The chapel service is subject to chapel and celebrant availability and will be confirmed as part of the funeral arrangements.

Private Chapel Farewell
For families who would like time together before the unattended cremation.
Subject to chapel and celebrant availability.
Collects the family from home, brings them to the funeral home for the service, then returns them home or to a local venue for a family meal or gathering.

Coffin and Flowers
Keep the included direct cremation coffin or ask us to arrange an upgraded coffin and floral tribute.
The basic Direct Cremation coffin is included. Morpeth, Lonsdale and Hastings are each +£350. For higher-specification coffins, the calculator adds the same coffin upgrade fee used with our Traditional Funeral Package on top of that £350 standard-range upgrade. This means wicker, willow, seagrass, bamboo, wool, solid wood and casket choices can now be included in the live estimate. A small number of specialist or children's coffin choices remain individually priced. View the coffin brochure
Standard coffin spray pricing is £45 per foot. Bespoke floral tributes can be discussed separately.
Ashes Casket or Scatter Tube
Choose a container for the cremated remains if you would like us to provide one.
Please note: the cremation fee at Hammerwich Crematorium is already included in the £1,395 package price. If you prefer another crematorium, we will confirm the fee difference. The private chapel service is separate from the cremation itself, which remains unattended.

What is the difference between this and the Simple Funeral Package?
The Direct Cremation Service is unattended. The Simple Funeral Package includes an attended funeral service with a hearse, coffin, bearers and in-house celebrant.
